Newark is the most populated city in Essex county, with a population of 280,000 people. This also makes Newark the 70th largest city in the United States - that's a lot of cars & trucks that need to be detailed. Unfortunately a lot of traffic as well!
Newark was founded in 1666 and its location at the mouth of the Passiac River and Newark Bay led to its popularity in transportation and commerce by water. Port Newark/Elizabeth is the busiest shipping container port on the east coast. Newark Airport is also on of the busiest airports in the country.
Newark's Branch Brook park is the oldest county park in the country and has one of the largest collections of cherry blossom trees in the world. There are over 5,000 cherry trees in the park. We need to keep your vehicles clean so those trees can continue to thrive and live on for later generations.
Newark is home to several leading university's: Rutgers-Newark (undergraduate, law and medical schools), NJIT, Seton Hall Law School and Essex county community college.
Newark is surrounded by residential suburbs to the west (on the slope of the Watchung Mountains), the Passaic River and Newark Bay to the east, dense urban areas to the south and southwest, and middle-class residential suburbs and industrial areas to the north. The city is the largest in New Jersey's Gateway Region, which is said to have received its name from Newark's nickname as the "Gateway City"
Newark is divided into 5 wards, each one has its own personality.
The Central Ward is the heart of Newark. It contains the university heights section, 26 school, police headquarters. Not the greatest place to detail your vehicles due to limited parking, but we will find a location that works for everyone.
The North Ward is surrounded by Branch Brook Park. Its neighborhoods include Broadway, Mount Pleasant, Upper Roseville and the affluent Forest Hill section. Forest Hill contains the Forest Hill Historic District, which is registered on state and national historic registers, and contains many older mansions and colonial homes. This is a great location for car and truck detailing!
The West Ward contains the neighborhoods of Valisburg, Ivy Hill, West Side, Fairmount, and Lower Roseville. Years ago this area contained many Irish, Polish and Ukrainian settlers. This ward is adjacent to South Orange and Irvington.
The South Ward comprises the Weequahic, Clinton Hill, Dayton, and South Broad Valley neighborhoods. The South Ward was known for its large Jewish population back in the early/mid 1900s.
The East Ward contains Penn Station, Newark's Downtown commercial district, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield headquarters and the Ironbound neighborhood. The Ironbound in recent decades has been termed "Little Portugal" and "Little Brazil" due to its heavily Portuguese and Brazilian population. Great place to get some grilled octopus while your automobile is being washed and detailed.
