Livingston Facts
Livingston was incorporated in 1813 and named after the first governor of New Jersey - William Livingston. His family's coat of arms serves as the township seal.
The town of Livingston was originally inhabilted by the Lenni Lenape Indians. The first european setters bartered with the Lenni Lenape to purchase the land in the early 1700s. This was long before the time of car detailing - more like horse detailing.
During the 1700s, Livingston settlers battled the British over unfair taxation details and eventually joined up with the colonial militia to fight against the British in the Revolutionary War.
During the 1800s, lumber and farming were major industries in the town. Mt. Pleasant Avenue – which was one of the first turnpikes in New Jersey – was the only primary access to the town through stagecoaches. Still no cars to be detailed, but Im sure those stagecoaches could have used a good cleaning.
The 1900's brought the automobile and full scale development as people moved from Newark into the suburbs. Finally, the car and truck detailing industry can get busy in Livingston...
Neighborhoods inside of Livingston include: Cedar Ridge, Cheapside, Morehousetown, Northfield, Washington Place and West Livingston. We would be happy to visit any of these residential enclaves and detail your vehicle.
The Township of Livingston is located in Essex County. In the vicinity are the Passaic River, West Orange, Short Hills, Millburn, and the Grover Cleveland State Historic Site in West Caldwell.
Short Hills Facts
Stewart Hartshorn founded Short Hills as a place where people would live and appreciate nature. The Lenape Indians called the area "short hills' due to its hilly and wooded landscape.
Short Hills today has preserved the natural environment that its founder envisioned as most of land is dedicated to parks and residential homes. Its a great place to detail a luxury vehicle under the shade of the old growth trees that live there.
